The HBOT with Medical Standard
Hyperbaric oxygen therapy is performed by hypO.Oxy exclusively under EU medical standards. Basically it is "only" the inhalation of pure oxygen - but in a hyperbaric chamber. And exactly this overpressure chamber makes the difference to usual oxygen therapies and multiplies the effect of the cell metabolism. However, the application in a hyperbaric chamber requires great care.
The raising and lowering of a pressure of about 1 bar corresponds to a dive of up to 10 meters. This is largely considered to be well controllable. However, similar to a dive, for some individuals this is more stressful than for others - or may only be performed under close supervision or not at all due to other medical conditions even in this low-threshold overpressure range. Therefore, each application is only carried out after a comprehensive explanation with one of our HBO physicians and is also only carried out in the presence of a physician by entsrpechendes specialized personnel.
The therapy takes place in hyperbaric chambers that we have further developed. The hyperbaric chambers are also completely based on the functions of the high-quality and very expensive medical hyperbaric chambers, as they are also used by clinics. However, the "inner life" of the chambers does not correspond in any way to that of clinics. You "enjoy" your application in comfortable armchairs with entertainment electronics and a generous room feeling. Our hyperbaric chambers are manufactured by the world market leader in Germany and meet all the requirements of a medical product as well as other safety precautions.
The Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy
Inhalation of pure or medical oxygen in a hyperbaric chamber increases the oxygen content by 11 - 14 times and increases the depth of penetration into the deepest cells or capillaries by 3 - 4 times. Oxygen therapies without the use of hyperbaric chambers usually only double the oxygen content in the blood.
Oxygen is vitally needed in all cells of the body to fight bacteria or to "use" growth factors such as hormones and vitamins. The increased oxygen saturation is delivered to the entire body through both the blood and plasma. The increased oxygen saturation thus accelerates cell metabolism and strengthens the body's natural self-healing powers.
Healing processes of open or even invisible wounds are accelerated, the healing of scars is improved or inflammations are reduced. But also a non-occasion-related increase of oxygen helps the regeneration of the cells - no matter if only to vitalize the skin or to "get fresh and awake again in the head".
Unfortunately, oxygen cannot be stored in the cells for an extended period of time any more than it can be stored in the lungs. The increase in cell metabolism lasts only a few hours afterwards. Therefore, depending on the clinical picture or the desired requirement, different repetitions of the application are necessary. In principle, a minimum of 5 applications is to be assumed for the support of a healing process - up to approx. 25. Since each body reacts indiviudell and/or has an individual basic metabolism, the exact number of applications cannot be prognosticated in the apron of a treatment. In an anamnesis discussion with an HBO physician, the intended therapy is explained in detail at the beginning.
The history of oxygen therapy
More than 400 years ago, people were already certain that oxygen had a particularly healing effect - and was more than just the air we breathe. But it took several centuries and a lot of research to understand the molecule oxygen. Even today, not everything is known, although oxygen is now classified as a prescription drug.
The goal has always been to supply more oxygen to the body. First attempts to increase the pressure with a steam engine failed. With the construction of the Brooklyn Bridge in New York from 1869 to 1880, oxygen therapy in a hyperbaric chamber achieved a breakthrough. During the construction of the foundations, divers with a correspondingly long dwell time were already used at that time. Known today as decompression sickness or diver's disease, the divers could soon no longer be used and suffered from corresponding pain and dizziness. It was therefore during this period that the hyperbaric chamber first found a functional application.
Numerous procedures and methods of oxygen enrichment for the body followed. For more than 60 years, however, Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy has been used for about a dozen diseases besides decompression sickness and is even paid for by health insurance companies. Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy is considered evidence-based for these diseases. To date, HBOT is the only procedure to treat, for example, the so-called diabetic foot or open leg and to prevent amputation.
With the Nobel Prize 2009 on the subject of ageing research by Prof. Elizabeth Blackburne, the subject of oxygen molecules now takes on a special significance and the subject takes on a new meaning after so many decades. One of the findings was that with increasing age the oxygen chains before and after the genes shorten - the so-called telomerase process. First studies showed that with about 40 applications of HBO therapy this telomerase could be reversed - i.e. the biological AL age could be turned back.
